Artist-in-Residence Performance: Shutterspeed Duo

Join us for Studio 9’s inaugural ‘Immersive’ Freshgrass Residency event featuring former Bang on a Can fellows Shutterspeed Duo in an unprecedented immersive audio and video experience.
Ford Fourqurean and Erich Barganier return to North Adams bringing their compelling audiovisual conversations around climate change, reimagined for our Meyer Immersive Audio System and Video Wall. The duo’s distinctive blend of clarinet, electric guitar, live electronic sculpting, and responsive video creates music that exists somewhere between soundscape and soundtrack – rich with texture and color that moves across both sonic and visual dimensions.
During their Freshgrass Institute Residency, Shutterspeed Duo will transform their typically two-dimensional performances into a fully three-dimensional experience. Working in Studio 9, they’ll compose new music and remix existing tracks to move throughout the space in real-time, creating a truly immersive audio and video environment that surrounds audiences completely.
This special performance takes place as the duo prepares to release their first full-length record in Fall 2025, offering audiences an exclusive preview of new material in an entirely new format.
