Studio9 Presents: Karen Curlee

Come and join Karen Curlee and musicians Mark Stewart and Gregg August as they explore the song book of Broadway’s own Cole Porter. Karen explores what the melodies and lyrics of Cole Porter mean today, and how they still resonate with audiences who are young, and not-so-young. Songs include hits like You’re the Top, Too Darn Hot, Begin the Beguine, Night and Day, and more!

Karen Curlee was on Broadway for 25 years, and is thrilled to revisit some of her favorite songs.  Mark Stewart is the founding member of the Bang on a Can All-Stars and has played with Paul Simon for a quarter of a century.  Bassist and composer Gregg August is a member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra (associate) as well as the JD AllenTrio.  His recent recording Dialogues on Race was nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album” category (2021).
